December 2019 was my first conversation with Gabriela as a potential OBEC bride. A global pandemic hit three months later. After many FaceTime calls and phone calls, Gabriela and Meheer felt it was right to postpone their wedding one year so that they could celebrate fully with all the people they loved, safely. Needless to say, G&M were ready for a smooth road to their big day. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances at about 1.5 months out, they had to switch venues and update other vendor contracts to match the new venue. G&M & I have been through a lot since December 2019 and I am thankful for witnessing their journey as they made it to their big day.
But of course, why not make 2020 a year to remember? They embraced their wedding slogan: “We have a plan. The plan may change” and chose to celebrate and tie the knot in Gabriela’s parent’s backyard!

Here’s what we loved the most about working with this amazing couple:
- They are extremely kind. No matter the situation they only had kindness to give, and were so understanding throughout despite the setbacks they faced.
- They are determined. Their journey to “I do” was less than ideal, but they knew what they wanted and didn’t steer away from it.
- G&M are fun! I had SO much fun planning, helping give life to their design, & truly become some of their biggest fans as they made me laugh often & truly cared about me. I felt like a friend on their big day, which is a gift as a wedding planner.
Gabriela had a vision centered around a modern vibe with Wes Anderson inspiration. Let me tell you, I was here for it all! Color, a throw-back to the seventies, so many florals, and the freedom to make vignettes with their rentals – a dream as a wedding coordinator. Plus, they wanted a rooftop, casual, party experience for their guests. Meheer had the request to have less structure than a typical wedding, which led to a laid-back, fun, and comfortable rest of the day. Throw in Gabriela’s outfit change & hand made signage (like y’all she is VERY talented) & this one was one for the books! Not only will you see their vision come to life in the photos below but also their love for each other!
G&M your day was beautiful, encapsulated all that you are as a couple & individually, & I am honored I got to be a small part in your wedding day. I wish you the best in all that life brings. I know that with each other, you two will change the world! Cheers to you!
