“My wife and I had a 3 month engagement period while we were on opposite sides of the world, me in China, her in the States. Deanna made the whole process go by smoothly and stress-free. She was such a big help and had a lot of amazing ideas for how to make our short, low budgeted, wedding everything we had dreamed of. Deanna was so supportive and encouraging through the whole planning process. During the day we felt so loved by her presence and my wife and I didn’t have to worry about a thing because she was already one step ahead. We got to ENJOY our time with family and friends and savor every moment of the day because we knew that our wedding was in great hands. Thank you” – Marco

Meet the first ever Olive Branch couple! They’re celebrating just a little over two months of marriage as I write this.

Bri was in my bible study when we were both students at Iowa State and it’s been such a joy to witness her grow these last few years! When Nic and I said “yes” to parenthood, we desperately needed help so Bri served us and babysat our kids (Marco later joined along).

My husband discipled Marco while he was in college and pretty much told Marco he would be stupid not to marry Bri. I’m glad he heeded our advice! When it came to their wedding day, I wanted to serve them the way they have served us. Not only do I get to share their story, I’m eager to continue walking with them through life and to see what God will do through them!

The Proposal

Marco proposed to Bri while he was finishing up his Architecture degree in China. When she went to visit him in China for a few weeks, she had a feeling that he would propose. However, when the last day came – there was still no proposal. Nearing the end of that day, Marco finally asked Bri to be his bride! In Bri’s words, “The short fun version I like to tell people is that he faked an ankle injury and proposed in a China parking lot after an amazing day together!”

The Ceremony

Bri and Marco got married at Cornerstone Church in Ames, the church they attended all throughout college. Their ceremony was simple but so meaningful and definitely represented the couple perfectly.

The Wedding

Their engagement was only two and a half months, so helping Bri wedding plan from start to finish was INTENSE! But we made it happen! They both really wanted burgundy. I think the color palette plus lush greenery was absolutely gorgeous and fitting for their September wedding.

They chose to do polaroids to capture memories on their big day. It was a blast and all the guests loved it!

It was an absolute joy to work with Bri to make this happen while Marco was finishing his internship in China. Not too shabby for such a short engagement! 😉

Marco and Bri, thank you SO much for entrusting me with your special day!
