Summer and I actually were high school classmates but it had been almost a decade since we last spoke. I was so delighted to get an inquiry from her once she and Adam became engaged!

When Summer and Adam started dreaming about their wedding, they were tossing around the idea of a destination wedding, either in California or Mexico. They envisioned an intimate destination wedding where their closest friends and family could gather somewhere absolutely stunning, and truly have an experience of a lifetime. After a few weeks of of planning together, we landed on the perfect spot: Sunset Mona Lisa in Cabo San Lucas. And I will say, being there in person only sealed the deal. The views are truly the best in Cabo.

As their Cabo Mexico destination wedding planner, I helped coordinate everything from the initial location decision through resort selection and booking accommodations for their 60 guests. We secured rooms at Grand Fiesta Americana Los Cabos, and I was able to negotiate a complimentary rehearsal dinner at the resort (perks of also being a travel agent!). The Week Of: Rehearsal, Venue Walkthroughs & Final Details

Although some couples do take a trip or a few trips before their wedding day, we actually did a lot of the planning from afar, and neither the couple or I had actually been on-site before we booked the resort and venue. An extensive amount of research goes into booking, so of course, there was a lot of time and discussion put into the booking process.

When we did finally arrive in Cabo that week, we tackled venue walkthroughs at the resort and the wedding venue, checked into the resort, where I connected with their wedding/sales coordinator and we went into the wedding rehearsal and dinner the next day. Then it was the wedding day itself, and a day for play after. 😉

There’s something special about being on-site for a destination wedding! You’re not just planning an event, you’re creating an entire experience. We made sure every detail was dialed in before the big day, from the ceremony setup to the room flip that would transform the space for their reception.

A Coastal, Modern Celebration with Heartfelt Moments

Summer and Adam’s aesthetic was beautiful, airy, coastal, and clean modern, with soft neutrals, organic textures, and that effortless beachy elegance that Cabo does so well. The ceremony featured live musicians who set the perfect tone as guests watched the couple exchange vows with the Sea of Cortez as their backdrop.

What really made this celebration unforgettable, though? The intimate guest count and deeply personal speeches. Summer’s stepdad and Adam’s mom both gave the kind of speeches that were special, it really was so emotional to witness. With having a more intimate guest count, it really allowed Summer to have their absolute closest circle with them. It meant the world to have everyone literally hop on a plane and travel to Mexico to celebrate their love story!

Dancing, Fireworks & Celebrating in Cava da Vini

After the ceremony and room flip, guests moved into the Cava da Vini space where a live mix DJ kept the energy going all night long. The celebration wrapped with fireworks over the water—a perfect punctuation mark on a day that Summer and Adam (and honestly, all of us) will never forget.

The absolute magic of creating a celebration in Mexico has me ready to do it all over again.
