Living in the Midwest we are not always known for starting trends, or maybe even keeping up with them. Kelly from Olive Branch Events Co. wanted that to change when creating the vision for a styled shoot. She wanted every bride to feel like they could do what they want for their day after looking at these photos – to go outside the norm and create something beautiful that is fully them.

Kelly’s goal was to fully play up the word moody. Meaning unpredictable, a sudden change – adding in elements that contrast each other. She wanted a daring bride, darker florals, a ton of different textures at play, to have natural elements like: cotton, stone, acrylic, and a venue that could become what you wanted it to. Kelly fell in love with having cotton in the bouquet, a big, tulle ball gown wedding dress from Strike Bridal in Milwaukee, modern stationary from Hall Creative out of Milwaukee, and the venue Fete of Wales in Wales, Wisconsin that really started to breathe life into the vision. While Kelly wanted the bride to be bold and daring she didn’t know just how daring until her model, Lindsey stepped into a black wedding dress (the Armeria) and knew that the whole shoot had to be centered around that. A light texture but not your typical wedding dress color fit the moody portion just right. Plus the bold, red lip that Chelsea from B. Beauty Bar put on Lindsey day and gave a nice final touch to the daring bride goal.

The tablescape was truly where the textures came to life with different fabrics for the tablecloth and runner that were dark, acrylic chairs from Event Essentials to keep it modern but light, moss and dark florals in charcoal bud vases from 1209 Creative that gave natural elements, mixed with gold and black candle holders to add depth. The tableware was a mix of dark and light and modern and vintage, to play up the word moody.

Sarah of 1209 Creative really played into the natural elements of the shoot with the ceremony space with a simple floral display. It had more moss and deep hues of florals. It feels like you could be lost in the woods. Add in the deep green invitation suite from Hall Creative Co. and there were all the greens you could have wanted.

To end the dark and moody day, there was an outfit change, or two, and a location change to the woods. The couple, Brian and Lindsey got to have some fun on a swing and boat around Fete of Wales. The Jeno Collective really got out the couple’s playful side, a mood change, during this time. It was a fun end to a day filled with breaking Midwest trends.
