Surreal. That’s what I would use to describe Constanza and Mirko’s artsy, eclectic, and unique wedding in none other than the lovely Spain! I feel like we didn’t fully get to appreciate this wedding with so many other events surrounding it that same week. We basically wrapped up two events, hopped on a plane to Spain, had the venue walk-through the day before, had the wedding, drove back to Barcelona and walked around for a day, and came back right after! What a whirlwind!

Why this day was particularly so special is because Constanza and Mirko have been long-time vendor friends of ours here in Wisconsin! Constanza owns Velvet Rentals, a vintage boutique furniture rental company. We started our businesses around the same time and she was actually one of the first vendors I ever met in this industry.

If you look at our work over the past 8 years, Velvet Rentals has always been a part of every season. We are simply just a match made in vendor heaven, and I have loved getting to collaborate with her over the years.

What I love the most about Constanza is that she has such a pure heart, an amazing eye for design (as you can clearly see below), and she and Mirko together are simply dynamite together. So calm, steady, but also so much greatness living inside those lovely brains! They are the kindest, most hospitable souls, and to have been chosen to be their planners for such a special day, in Spain no less, was truly the greatest compliment.

Inspired by Salvador Dalí, Mirko’s favorite artist, it only made sense to get married at El Molí de la Torre, a breathtaking venue in Figueres, and one of Salvador Dali’s hometown! With golden lobsters, moths, tassels, ducks, eggs, mannequin hands, oh my–there is no shortage of knickknacks and fun in their tablescape design. Is there anything else you can spot?

Constanza and Mirko wanted to have two ceremonies – one was a more traditional ceremony at the local chapel within the Catholic church in downtown Figueres, followed by a symbolic ceremony at the venue, made even sweeter with Constanza donning her mom’s wedding dress.

With paella for cocktail hour, and a beautifully hosted tableside dinner with chimichurri steak and an assortment of desserts, their 40 guests had the most lovely, attentive experience and we truly cannot believe we got to be there to execute!

Any destination wedding requires a lot of diligence to keep up with planning, along with language barriers, navigating planning from afar, and time zone changes, but when all was said it done, it turned out SO beautifully. We were so inspired by the vendor team and couldn’t have asked for a better weekend for this lovely couple!

And before I completely close us out, I do think the Spain vendor team deserves a round of applause for being absolutely excellent team-players and going so over and beyond, especially Jordi with Dalmare Photo and Cristina with Visual Bruma. I cannot receommend them enough no matter where you live. It was a gift to work alongside them! Jordi’s personality and unwavering commitment to creativity and artistry was a beautiful thing to experience as a vendor. This man stayed well past his contracted hours to get the most breathtaking photos. Cristina’s wedding film of this day is probably the best I’ve seen in capturing the essence and tenderness of the day. I am still in awe by this photo/video duo.
